Eight Optimist sailors traveled to Walpole's breathtaking Coal Mine Bay beach to rig up for racing spanning two days over the Labour Day long weekend. Most families camped at the Coal Mine Bay caravan park or Rest Point caravan park. The Nornalup Inlet has a rich sailing history with the building of three Australian youth round the world campaigners vessels in the Boat Shed at Rest Point.
This event will be hosted by Royal Perth Yacht Club (Fremantle Annexe) and will see the best young Optimist sailors from around WA compete for the title of state champion.
