2026 Optimist World Championship Campaign Report

The Australian Optimist Team has concluded its campaign at the 2026 Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco. A full championship report, prepared by Team Manager Tim Cooper, provides an overview of the team’s preparation, racing, final results and key learnings from competing against 293 sailors from 71 nations. Congratulations to all five Australian sailors, Coach David White, and the families and supporters who made the campaign possible.

These camps provide valuable opportunities for Green Fleet, Intermediate and Open sailors to develop skills, build confidence and spend quality time on the water training with fellow Optimist sailors across the WA fleet.

Alex at the Eastern Seaboard Regatta

With 144 youth sailors representing 11 countries, the 17th Eastern Seaboard Regatta kicked off at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya, Thailand. The event is one of the region’s premier youth events and coincides with the start of the Thai regatta season.
