Published Wed 13 Mar 2024

The 2024 WAIODA Optimist State Championship was held at Royal Perth Yacht Club’s Fremantle Annexe over the weekend. Congratulations to all the sailors on your participation. We are pleased that so many of you were able to make it and that participation is increasing.

A huge congratulations to Murray Duthie for taking out first overall in Open Fleet for the 3rd time! A well-deserved result reflecting his commitment to the sport over many years.

A huge congratulations also to Victoria Chernoff and Rhys Williams for achieving first girl in Open Fleet and first boy in Intermediate Fleet, respectively, and to Grace McLernon for first girl in Intermediate Fleet.

In Green Fleet, Caitlin Mackellar won the 1st sailor award. Congratulations and keep it up!

All sailors have come away with a huge experience, growing friendships and lots of learning to help propel them to their next level.

Thank you to Royal Perth Yacht Club and all the volunteers in front, and behind the scenes. Without you the event would not have been possible!
